POTTERY LESSONS

c.r.e.t.a. ceramics, residencies, exhibitions, teaching & the arts rome

Lori-Ann Touchette and Paolo Porelli are pleased to announce the foundation of the new cultural association "c.r.e.t.a. – ceramics, residencies, exhibitions, teaching & the arts – rome". The association will promote ceramics and  the visual, humanistic, musical and culinary arts through events, cultural  'happenings', demonstrations, lectures, seminars, courses and didactic visits, workshops, exhibitions and artist residencies.

c.r.e.t.a. has two studios for their activities that are situated in via dei Delfini nº 16/17, 00186 Roma, in the heart of the Jewish Ghetto, and in via Lanfranco di Pavia nº 39 (Roma) minutes from Anguillara Sabazia and the lake of Bracciano.

The association is organising a series of initiatives in via dei Delfini to inaugurate its events calendar. The first appointments are the following:  'ladies' night out': Friday 19 and 26 October.from 18:30 to 20:30; 'un aperitivo con la ceramica' or 'date night', Saturday 20 and 27 October.from 18:30 to 20:30; and 'ceramic party' Sunday 21 and 28 October from 11 to 13.

'Ladies night out' gives you a chance to enjoy the company of old and new friends as you try your hand at decorating your own personal 'masterpiece'. Wine and cheese will help to get the creative juices flowing while you bask in the atmosphere of the 16th century palace. Why not treat yourself with a Friday night escape from the ordinary?

The 'aperitivo con la ceramica' or 'date night' Bring your date, your spouse or your partner or come alone for an evening of romance. It doesn't matter if it's your first date or your 50th, you'll spend an enjoyable Saturday evening experimenting with the ceramic arts. Add a little music, a glass of wine or beer, some light hors d'oeuvres and you've got the perfect recipe for a date to remember.

At the Sunday 'Halloween ceramic party', the theme is the family fun and food with a light brunch with piazza and antipasti. Take your inspiration from Halloween and go for painting goblins and ghosts or you might opt for dripping or using our range of stamps to personalise our plates and mugs for the whole family.

For these events, there is no wet clay, no greenware to sand, no molds to pour. Simply come in and choose a piece or two from our wide selection of white bisque, pick your colors and paint it the way you like. We dip it in an overglaze and fire it one of our kilns, then it is ready to pick up in about a week.
